About us
Located on Lexington Avenue in the heart of Downtown Asheville, we specialize in North and South Indian food made from scratch in-house. Come sample our lunch buffet, which has a range of delicious options, including chicken and naan cooked in our authentic tandoor oven, raita prepared with house-made yogurt, and seasonal vegetarian specialties.
The atmosphere at dinner is warm and intimate; specials include favorites such as Butter Chicken, Lamb Pistachio, authentic Biryanis, and Spinach & Goat Cheese Naan. Mela welcomes children and even offers a kids' menu as well. In addition to dine-in, we also offer catering services. Mela Indian Restaurant first opened its doors in 2005. Since then, we have established a strong customer base within the community and have won numerous awards. We have been the First Place winner for Best Indian Restaurant in Western North Carolina in the Mountain Xpress Readers' Poll every year since we opened in 2005, putting us in the WNC Best of ''Hall of Fame.'' We've also been recommended by the New York Times!
